Meta Product Browsing Turns On October 28: A D2C Ad Account Audit
Tap a Facebook or Instagram ad after October 28 and you may not land on the brand's site. Meta is switching on "product browsing" inside ads that are already running: an in-app page of product info and suggestions that Meta assembles, shown before the store that paid for the click.
No keynote for this one. It arrived as a notice in Ads Manager, on by default, with an opt-out button and a per-ad toggle in Advantage+ Creative settings. Meta's pitch is a 3% lift in conversions, with no word on which conversions or against what baseline. And the date sits a month before Black Friday, mid-festive here in India.
We build video ads for D2C brands, so the handoff this changes is the one we care about most. An ad makes a promise in its first two seconds, and the landing page has to keep that promise fast or the click is wasted. Put a platform-assembled page between them and the promise can break while the brand changes nothing: the ad tells one story, the inserted page suggests what it likes, and Ads Manager reports the blend as a single number. When performance moves in November, you will not know whether your creative moved it or Meta's page did.
Our advice comes with its own deadline: decide before the 28th. Walk every live ad account, choose per campaign, and keep at least one campaign opted out as a holdout, so the browsing layer has to beat your own landing pages before it earns the rest. Treat the 3% as Meta's number until your data agrees.
D2C founders and marketers: are you leaving product browsing on through the festive and BFCM weeks, or opting out until it proves itself?
